Welcome to GMC Motorsport. The following pages are the common areas of our expertise although having said that, if it can or has been done, I am sure we can help and if any particular enquiry is not covered, just ask.
This web site is written by engineers. We are here to provide a full customer service and are able to give honest advice on what to do, unlike a lot of suppliers, whose staff have no first hand knowledge of what goes with what and are just counter hands and shelf pickers. It is no good cherry picking performance parts from a catalogue as they do not necessarily compliment each other.
Sometimes the information we give does not suit or impress the customer as they are wanting us to say what they want to hear and not necessarily what the true position is, a typical instance is they ask about how many bhp a certain modification will give and when told, they say that XYZ tuning company says they can get far more for less money. All I can say is, go there and be prepared to be disappointed by the performance and then decide if the gain was worth the money. A good 40% of our work is devoted to repairing mistakes and poor tuning by previous so called tuning firms. If you want the cheapest whatever, there is no point contacting ourselves, so if you are looking for the cheapest price, save your phone call or email. We are not meaning to be rude or negative just honest, if it is the best job at a reasonable price we hope you will contact ourselves soon.
NOTE Please understand that we get 50 emails a day and we like to help but all the time we spend answering emails we can not do any paying work so restrict your questions to short answerable ones. We typically get questions like "what do you suggest to tune my engine" or a shopping list of 6 modifications, neither can be answered by email as even if time allowed we probably have many solutions all with different cost implications and need to discuss it by phone. You must appreciate that there are only 2 of us here with the knowledge that you need. The phone number to use for any non sales orders is 0906 861-5715 e.g. technical information and enquiries. I know it is a premium rate call and apologise to genuine prospective customers, but 98% of emails and telephone calls, result in no business. I had a very irate "customer" a doctor in fact, complaining by email about being charged to get technical information as he would probably buy parts from us and that all other businesses do this as part of business. I am sorry I had to disagree with him. He wanted to know the ins and outs of fitting a supercharger system to a car that had never been attempted before, the type of conversation that from previous experience can go on for 40 minutes or more and then when they have all the facts decide it is not what they want. The idea of using the premium rate is to make people concise in their questions and do to go rambling on because it is of no costs to themselves and so sort out the genuine callers. look at it this way, is it better to talk for free to someone who does not know what they are talking about, or spend a few quid on a phone call that may save you thousands doing the wrong thing.
If anyone has any comments on the above we would welcome any responses either for or against, with reasons.
